The LANXESS Group had 17,078 employees as of September 30, 2012, which was 688 more than on December 31, 2011 (16,390). The principal reason for the increase was the Group’s growth strategy.

The number of employees in the EMEA region (excluding Germany) rose by 81 to 3,438. Headcount in Germany came to 8,032, against 7,846 as of December 31, 2011, due in part to the acquisition of Bond-Laminates GmbH, Brilon, Germany, in September 2012. The workforce in North America expanded by 136 to 1,563, largely due to the first-time inclusion of the employees of Tire Curing Bladders, LLC, Little Rock, United States, which was acquired in March 2012. In Latin America, headcount rose slightly compared to December 31, 2011, from 1,585 to 1,602. The number of employees in the Asia-Pacific region advanced by 268, from 2,175 to 2,443, due largely to the investment activity in those countries.
